Good morning everyone,
This morning I came across this picture (on facebook)
Kentucky Fried Chicken is raising money to find the cure for Juvenile Diabetes. That alone is an outrage but to add insult to injury they are raising the money through the sales of soda.
This enrages me... and reminds me why I am involved with the Cancer Prevention Challenge. A fund raiser that focusses on the PREVENTION of disease. This organization is integral in the shift we need to make towards a PREVENTATIVE approach to life. Whether through diet, lifestyle, exercise or attitude we CAN reduce disease rates and we certainly cannot rely on KFC to find the answers for us.
I won't even begin to discuss the DOUBLE DOWN!
There are only 13 days left in my Cancer Prevention Fundraising. So far I have raised $840 of my $1000 goal for FoodShare. I chose FoodShare as the recipient of my fundraising because they, at the very core of their existence, deal with PREVENTION of disease by educating children, teenagers, new immigrants and adults about the importance of healthy food. Their vision is quite simply "Good Healthy Food for All".
Trust me, if we had good healthy food for all, we would see a drop in disease rates.

So whether or not you can afford to contribute to my fund raiser, I hope this e-mail at least puts the concept of PREVENTION on your radar.
If you are feeling generous, here is the link to my CPC page.
While I am at it, I will make a little plug for FIELD TRIP. Our website is up and running, on-line bookings are happening everyday and all the info is there for you to check out. While a somewhat shameless plug, Field Trips are a great way to reconnect with your food and the people who grow your food - which is a form of PREVENTION!!
