Turning a weed into a drink

What a glorious day!
I took a break from working inside to weed and water my urban farm.
Before the space was turned into my little food oasis, it had a flowering tree and a few random plants and flowers, including mint.
Anyone who has mint in their garden knows, it doesn't require much attention and spreads easily.
I'm managing to keep it under control but when I find some I pull it up by the roots and save it.

Mint is a very medicinal herb. It is an excellent digestive aid, its essential oils are uplifting and can even help your breathe easier during the allergy season.

On this very hot day I pinched the mint leaves from their stalk, washed them and then chopped them coarsely.
In a large mason jar I added them to filtered water and the juice of half a lemon.

It makes a nice refreshing drink. Then I took 2 glasses outside and shared it with my neighbour who was playing with his dog.
It's essential that we stay well hydrated in the summer and something as simple as mint (a common garden weed) can add a little pep to you and your water.
